Killing joke - the perfect industrial hell

Killing Joke. I'll automatically assume you've never heard of them before, because honest to the roof, Killing Joke is really very underrated band. I'm not a pro at them, and in fact Im not a die hard fan either. But I'll do my best to share what KJ really is - at least to me.

http://content.answers.com/main/content/img/amg/pop_artists/DRP500/P551/P55164II8UQ.jpg

I've came upon one of their songs by a complete random, and to be honest, I'm still quite shy about it. I wa slistening to a PC game soundtrack (Need for speed something) and noticed this song, that was absolutely unlike anything I've heard before. The Death & Resurrection Show. Free to download below, by the way.

I was awestruck by the hypnotic drums, rough voice and all in all, interesting style of music. So I did what a young man grown and bred on the internet does - I googled it. It turned out this song is made by Killing Joke, a band that on last.fm is tagged both by post-punk and industry. Curious about how the result in their other songs might sound like, I got my hands on their old album that dates back to the eighties "Laugh? I nearly bought one!". Interesting as it was, except for their single Eighties, it had absolutely no appeal to me.

I didn't give up, though, and searched for their newer albums. What I discovered is hard to explain, really. Imagine Doom 1 the PC game, imagine the third episode, the one with hell and stuff, and then imagine the perfect soundtrack for it. For me, that's the new Killing Joke. Repeated deadly-awesome riffs, Jaz Coleman's growling voice and brutaly true and truly brutal lyrics. For me as an industry fan, the new Killing Joke is... as if someone was hugging my very soul. It is so good.

Jaz Coleman, the singer, is also an interesting personality. He believes in apocalypse (and moved to Scandinavia for a while to hide before the apocalypse comes), he's apparently very intelligent and thinks a lot about what's going on in this worls. So ten thousand points for him for that. Another interesting thing he does is the warpaint - imagine mix of the Kiss and Rambo military paint, and you'll get the approximat picture of how Coleman looks on concerts. And he does it even now, regardless that he's getting a little old for that.

I might update this post in the future, because Killing Joke deserves attention. And until then? Torture your ears with Pandemonium. Happy listening! :)

Metallica - Fuel

Gimme fuel, gimme fire,

Now I know what you all are thinking right now. Since when did I devote my ears to Metallica, the most overrated and talked-over band of all times? Let me tell you before you crucify me - Metallica isn't the best band I have ever heard, and I've spent a lot of time trying to stay away from them, because honestly, a lot of people just see heavy music gone pop in them. I mean, look at Pantera and Sepultura. Why Metallica is so much more popular. I even know people that have no clue their favorite band, Metallica, is thrash metal or even metal. On the other hand, they do have some good score, so one day I just took their best of album and took a taste. And I was surprised! It actually did have some catchy tunes, in the first line lead by Fuel - Fuel is fierce, fast, melodic song, you can sing to it and the song itself sounds just good. After listening to Fuel, Im not a fan of Metallica all of sudden. But let us be fair, people. Metallica deserves at least some of the credit the media give them. So rock till you drop.

Legends of Symbian - Markus Mertama

Ladies and gentlemen,

there is a lot of people in Symbian and PPC community who have grown into legends, and many forumers know and respect them. There is one person for me though, who will always hold number 1 top member of community of all times.

Markus Mertama (hailing from Finland) - the creator of C2Doom, famous port of Doom to S80, S60 and S60v3 Symbian devices. You might say, so what, he made a port for Doom - whats up with that? The truth is, his efforts launched a wave of other developers, realizing the true power of smartphones, and made ports to Symbian friendly devices on their own (from the later ports I could name Quake 1, Quake 2, Quake 3 (only on the most powerful phones), Duke Nukem 3D and the Shadow Warrior) - but the original was always the best. C2Doom allows you to set gfx details, music and sounds, redefine controls that fit YOU the best, and using the shell, you can load any .WAD game ever out. And the whole shell was for free. That rocks.

Mertama noticed popularity gained after releasing the original CDoom and later C2Doom, and when he modded C2Doom for S60v3 devicec, he did one thing that sort of annoyed me - he made us fellow members of the community pay for it. Of course, only loyal followers did that - BiNPDA took the application and cracked it, same as they usually do. Mertama himself though is a very nice person - when I had problems with .wad files on 6630 or when I had difficulties with redefining keys on the S60v3 version, he helped me as much as he could.

And the summary? Thanks to Markus, I was able to spend hundreds of hours beating Doom games on my very phone - and I enjoyed it. Thanks, Markus.

In the next episode of Legends of Symbian, we'll go through the painful rise and fall of Aivanet.com - stay tuned!

Facebook - follow up

As a social website veteran, Id like to share my experience with me, with only number appreciation of single forms of internet communication.

Facebook - the worst of the worst. Annoying piece of shit. 2/10
Youtube - Youtube is the mother of flamers. There is no better practice of flaming than going to Youtube and try to communicate with people. As a social place, Youtube gets crappy 3/10
Hi5 - decent website... but highfives? Make lame kids trade fives, just so they feel popular? 5/10
deviantArt - art is just a tablecloth on the actual ugly table - mostly japanese fangirls, not flaming (not allowed there), but being humanly retarded. Imagine life without conflict. Creepy and boring? dA is both. As a social site, dA gets 5/10
Myspace - the best social website in my opinion. You can do whatever and however. 8/10
Forums - forums are to some extent influenced by populare whoreism, boosted by hunger for power and place in the forum team. But you can also find really outstanding people and real friends there. For two happy years of my life, I give it 9/10
IM - you can choose whom do you want to talk to, and for that, IM wins and gets full 10/10

It's quite simple. The people you choose by your own will always be better friends than those forced to spend time with you, or those you don't actually know. Do you think different? Throw me a comment.

Till next time.

Facebook - what a fucking piece of SHIT.

This is rant. This is war.

The whole story dates back to the days when I was about 15. My parents started paying for ADSL, I suddenly got all the speed and freedom I wanted to move around the internet, and as it usually happens for people without life and with internet (like I was back then) - they try to prove themselves: "I am popular! Watch me win in the world with my own rules!"

On a "social" site, you dont have to be hot, you dont have to be smart, and most of all you dont need real friends. You just copy and paste your/someone else's hottest pic you can find, and spam bullshit. SPAM BULLSHIT MORE. Statistics on those sites only encourage losers to spam more, invite people for friends that they barely know or do not know at all. Fuck yeah! There is a paradox though. I know this girl, and she was never popular. Actually, everyone I knew hated her for being a friend backstabber. Now here I go two years later and see her on Facebook. She has 250 friends now. Now there is several posibilities.

A) she cloned herself and added herself 250 times.
B) she sends friend invites to anyone she has ever SEEN.

B), of course, is right. Can a late teenager say he has 250 friends? Can they say they've talked to 250 people? Can they say they've met 250 people? Of course not - but on social sites, that doesnt matter. The more you have, the more you win, youre popular, everyone likes you, emo or glittery page layout, stupid personal messages five times a day - just to let everyone youre not dead yet.

Just for the score - I was never into that kind of social sites usage. I am not an attention whore.

And now for the Facebook in specific. I came to Facebook upon multiple requests of my friends, who claimed that FB is "awesome" and that I "gotta register there". I did, then. But what I saw was something different from awesome, and way off me having to register there. See, Im a long myspace user. You add your pics, comment your buddies from time to time - and thats it. Silent, calm existence. Now on Facebook, youre constantly pushed to add more people (people you might know - always on the page), read other people's activities and status messages (right on the middle of your homepage. You simply CAN NOT ignore them, they are THERE) and also, watch STUPID RESULTS OF THEIR QUIZES. Its not a matter of option, YOU FUCKING HAVE TO READ ALL THE CRAP ANY SHITTY TEENAGE GIRL THAT KNOWS YOU TOOK AS A QUIZ. FUCK YOU, FACEBOOK! YOU'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A FAILBOOK!

And the more youre popular on fucking Failbook, the more of a loser you are. Confirmed by life experience. Popularity on social websites is fake, frustrating annoying fake, that will haunt the people with actual real friends in their sleep.

...

BiNPDA - why oh why?

BiNPDA. Now for the laymen among you, let me explain who BiNPDA are. First, picture a phone. To the phone, add an operation system that allows you to do with your phone, that you can do with your PDA. To that kind of phone, make a lot of great games and useful applications. To the applications and games, add a group of people who refuse to pay for them, and would serve the games and apps cracked to the community of other fans.

Over the months Ive been on the Symbian scene, BiNPDA reached a demi god status. They've been there to crack the original N-gage games, they've been there to crack next gen N-gage games, they've been always there, to crack anything worth cracking. Everyone loved and respected BiNPDA for saving hundreds of our dollars, euros, or whatever you use to pay where you are. One week, no releases came out anymore. And the next week as well. Same as the next one. It's been about half a year since BiNPDA cracked an N-gage game and I ask, what the fuck is up, guys?

There's a lot of gossip around the topic, and here's what people say and what I think about it. Some say BiNPDA got pissed at ipmart.com, because they messed around with their uploads and claimed them to be their own, which resulted in BiNPDA not giving their releases into public anymore. If you know ipmart, its just the kinda forum everyone hates, except for their members. They're huge, they have a lot of ads, and I bet their main admin got hella richer thanks for all the ass fuck you have to take for being there. On the other hand, if BiNPDA were mad at ipmart, wouldnt they simply hack the shit out of them? Thats VERY common among smartphone forums, and NO security is tight enough. And BiNPDA is the best of the best.

Second version says that theyre busy with their personal lives. That is nonsense, as whole group at once wouldnt have real life issues. It leads me to the possibility that there might be some inner conflict in the group, which resulted in end of the group. But then again, wouldnt they carry on and crack solo, like for example Illusion does? (respect for Illusion. Youre the man, bro.) Id say odds for this to happen is 50/50.

The last rumor I stumbled upon is what we saw on Aivanet some time ago - Nokia found them and told them either you stop, or we fuck you up. Thats kinda possible, although I wonder how could NOKIA find a hacker group.

And what I think? BiNPDA got HIRED by Nokia, same as old legend of the scene (whose name and nickname I already forgot - shitty memory). He was so good, he hacked successfully all their security updates and made everything possible in the realm of tied-up S60v3. What did they do? They didnt sue him, they hired him with a huge fucking salary. Thats not an urban legend, he actually commented about it, thanked his fans and apologized for leaving them on their own. He was a legend indeed. And BiNPDA? I wouldnt be surprised one bit if Nokia hired them to work on new S60v5 security.

You will be missed, bros.

Hey yo!

Hey yo!

Yeah youre right, Im lame and I made a blog. Now we all know theres two kinds of blogs out there - the lame boring ones with teenage pictures of hugging twats, and the rare interesting ones which you read and read until youre done reading. Mine is neither. Mine is my own space where I write stuff I need to get rid of, but have nowhere to do that. Yet. I've needed that for a while now.

Thats for why, and now for who - me. Honza, 20, CZ, that's all you need to know if you dont know me. If you already know, youve made a picture of what kinda person I am, so no real need to torture yourself with one page long descriprion about feelings. Some of you know me in real life, some of you might know me as Alteregoist from Symbian community, some of you might have been my bros in arms on RO - Im still the same kinda cynical yet funny, a little psychotic mofo.

Thats about what I had in mind. Till next time!
